Go wild with the Tailleferre Sonate Champetre, written during a summer vacation in the country with her granddaughter, cat, and dog. Enjoy a merry romp with the Hindemith Sonate for Oboe and Piano, a work bursting with a free and highly resourceful use of form, melody, and harmony. Identify with the animals: listening to Meschvitz’s Prayers from the Ark, you will know how each one feels as they express their deepest needs and desires. Daydream during the Etler Suite, a highly rhythmic, harmonically, and texturally complex work, as you watch the Fiorito film with the same title, a surreal story of two characters on a journey of transcendence and transformation. Tour the pleasant green of England’s forests and fields with the Hurlstone Bassoon Sonata. And end with a wonderfully wild and passionate quartet by Milhaud, who was freshly returned from a two year sojourn in Brazil. Winds on the Wild Side!!
